What happened

At around 8 p.m., several witnesses saw a fireball that they placed at an altitude of roughly 4,000 metres. A coloured trail followed it. It then appeared to fall somewhere in the surrounding area.

No other accounts were gathered. Based on the descriptions given, the GEIPAN concluded that the witnesses had probably seen an atmospheric re-entry, and the case was classified B (probably identified).
