Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on November 22, 2009 in Pessac (Gironde, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a sky lantern (class B).

What happened

At around 7 p.m. on a Sunday evening, the witness saw seven or eight red lights moving one behind the other in the same direction. They made no noise as they passed.

The witness did not want to give a statement to the gendarmerie, but did provide a photograph. It was of limited use, though it looked like other pictures taken during sightings of flying lanterns. GEIPAN concluded that the witness had observed red lights and classified the case as B, meaning probably identified.
