Sighting in Rives, November 5, 1976

Isère, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on November 5, 1976 in Rives (Isère, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

On 5 November 1976, at two points in the evening, around 5 p.m. and again at 8:08 p.m., people saw an intense white glow cross the sky. The phenomenon was circular in shape and moved quickly along a path heading north-east. The observers heard no noise, and each sighting lasted only a few seconds.

The details gathered were too scarce to support any particular explanation. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C, for lack of sufficient information, concluding only that a luminous phenomenon had been seen passing by.
