Sighting on December 25, 2009 in Rumegies (Nord, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a sky lantern (class B).

What happened

At about 8:30 p.m., a witness noticed two rows of yellow lights moving across the sky. They heard no particular noise during the observation, which lasted around ten minutes. The lights crossed the sky quickly and then vanished toward the north-east, before the witness had time to take any photographs. No other testimony was collected.

Based on the description given, the GEIPAN concluded that the witness had probably seen flying lanterns, namely Thai lanterns. The case was classified B (probably identified).
