What happened

At around three in the morning, several witnesses noticed a spherical object surrounded by a halo in the sky. Behind it came a group of smaller yellow-orange points that together formed a luminous trail. The whole thing moved slowly in a straight line from the northeast toward the southeast. The sighting lasted less than a minute, and no sound connected with the phenomenon was heard.

Based on the descriptions collected, GEIPAN concluded that the witnesses had probably seen an atmospheric re-entry. The case was classified B: probably identified.
