Sighting in Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud, June 7, 1999

Deux-Sèvres, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on June 7, 1999 in Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud (Deux-Sèvres, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

In 2008, a witness reported a series of sightings of luminous phenomena moving across the night sky. According to the account, these had taken place over the summer of 1999, from early June to the end of August. Only one testimony was collected.

GEIPAN could not make use of this account. It describes several separate sightings, reported about ten years after the events, without the exact date of each one being given. The observations were therefore numerous, varied and imprecise.

The investigation considered that they could be consistent with satellites, shooting stars (especially in August) or even celestial bodies. For lack of sufficient information, GEIPAN classified the case as C: insufficient data.
