Sighting in Saint-Samson-de-Bonfossé, July 2009

Manche, Normandie, France

Sighting in July 2009 in Saint-Samson-de-Bonfossé (Manche, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

On a July evening in 2009, at around 11 p.m., the witness was on their terrace when they heard an engine noise. They then saw a dark, square shape pass overhead, with four bright points at its corners. Frightened, they went back inside the house, but kept watching the object as it moved slowly southward until it was hidden by the neighbouring house.

The account was collected through a questionnaire on 19 January 2011, long after the event. It contained few details, which made any investigation impossible. The exact day of the sighting was unknown, so it was arbitrarily dated to the first of the month. No other similar report was collected in the area. Because of this lack of information, GEIPAN classified the case as C (insufficient data).
