Côte-d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France

Sighting on December 8, 2013 in Tart-le-Bas (Côte-d'Or, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was the planet Venus (class A).

What happened

Several people noticed a single, spherical phenomenon in the sky to the south-southwest, and it intrigued them. It was very bright and seemed to stay motionless in a clear sky. The observation began at around 5:15 pm and went on until about 8 pm.

The investigation concluded that the very bright point of light the witness watched for a long time toward the southwest in the early evening was without any doubt the planet Venus, which was particularly bright at that time. The very good weather conditions made the sight surprising for the witness. The case was classified A (identified): an observation of the planet Venus.
