Sighting in Toulouse, January 26, 1977

Haute-Garonne, Occitanie, France

Sighting on January 26, 1977 in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

From the first floor of a house, the witness noticed an object flying in the sky at an altitude of about 500 m. It was shaped like a rugby ball, looked large and resembled an airship. Its color was matte gray with a metallic look. The object moved at an estimated 100 to 150 km/h, heading into the wind. The witness heard no sound.

The account was only collected on 9 July 2007, a very long time after the events. Because of this delay, GEIPAN could not carry out a proper investigation that might have confirmed or ruled out hypotheses such as the passage of a balloon. The case is therefore classified C, for insufficient data.
