Sighting in Toulouse, July 14, 1979

Haute-Garonne, Occitanie, France

Sighting on July 14, 1979 in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At about 10:45 p.m., on the evening of the fireworks display, a witness was standing in the crowd that had gathered to watch it. They noticed a light in the sky, about 45° above the horizon, that caught their attention. For 8 to 12 seconds it crossed the sky in a straight line from south to north at a steady speed.

The object looked like a luminous disc with a small, fainter tail. The witness noticed its color changing at times, but heard no sound coming from it. The light then vanished quickly.

Despite the crowd, no other witness account was collected. GEIPAN classed the case as C, meaning the available information is insufficient to draw a conclusion. What the witness saw is described as a luminous disc crossing the sky.
