Sighting in Tournefeuille, June 23, 2008

Haute-Garonne, Occitanie, France

Sighting on June 23, 2008 in Tournefeuille (Haute-Garonne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

After a press article appeared, the GEIPAN decided to investigate an observation made at 4:52 a.m., in which a witness had photographed a luminous phenomenon moving across the sky.

The investigation found numerous inconsistencies in the account, in particular regarding the conditions under which the photographs were taken, and the other witnesses mentioned could not be found. The diameter of the photographed object closely matched that of the Moon. However, the GEIPAN was unable to reproduce the object's hazy appearance or its colours.

The evidence gathered was judged too fragile and too open to challenge for the case to be considered solid. It was classified C because reliable information was lacking.
