Sighting in Trept, July 30, 2010

Isère, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on July 30, 2010 in Trept (Isère, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 10:10 pm, a motorist saw an object for a few seconds, passing lower than aircraft fly. It was triangular, with two domes on top, and it left a luminous, silvery trail across the sky. The witness heard no particular noise. The object quickly disappeared from their field of view.

No other witness account was collected. The gendarmerie report added nothing of note. The GEIPAN asked the witness several times for further details (by email in September, then by phone in November and December 2010), but received no reply. Because of this lack of information, particularly about the trail, the case was classified C: the data were insufficient to reach a conclusion.
