Sighting in Vescovato, May 8, 1983

France

Sighting on May 8, 1983 in Vescovato (France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Over the night of 8 to 9 May 1983, between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m., several witnesses noticed a round object in the sky giving off an intense white light. One of them looked at it through binoculars and said they could make out a round mass with portholes inside it. Fog repeatedly interrupted the sightings, but the witnesses still saw the object move both horizontally and vertically. They heard no sound.

The investigation checked the sightings against a sky chart for the times in question and found that Venus was in the part of the sky the witnesses were watching. However, the available information was not enough to confirm that the planet was what they saw. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C, insufficient data.
