Sighting in Aix-en-Provence, October 5, 2004

Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sighting on October 5, 2004 in Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

In 2014, a witness reported to GEIPAN several episodes from October 2004 in which they felt watched, first on the motorway and then at home, and during which they made various observations or noticed various things. They described in particular what they saw while driving at 130 km/h and looking behind them. They had considered that it might be a reflection in the closed windows of the vehicle, but had ruled it out.

GEIPAN found the account lacking in consistency. It contained a great deal of detail even though the events were long past and the viewing conditions were poorly suited to observation. The reflection hypothesis could not be entirely excluded. The witness was also in a strongly emotional state, since the feeling of being watched came before the observation itself. That feeling seemed to have led them to retain details or comparisons evoking an "observing eye". The witness also described other moments of emotion or strangeness tied to the same sensation, which had nothing to do with the presence or observation of a UAP.

GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C: reliable information was missing, as the observations took place in several different conditions.
