What happened

A witness was on the terrace of their home when they saw a luminous phenomenon go by. The sighting lasted about 7 seconds. They described a yellow-orange ball followed by a trail, moving from the northwest toward the south. The phenomenon then faded gradually as it followed a descending path.

The description provided was very brief, and it suggests a probable atmospheric re-entry. However, no investigation could be carried out because of a lack of information, despite follow-up requests from GEIPAN. The case was classified C (insufficient data), and the conclusion was that the witness had observed the passage of a fireball.
