What happened

At around 11:25 pm, two witnesses at home noticed unusual lights in the night sky, first through a window. They went outside to get a better view of about ten point-like lights moving slowly. The group travelled from south-southwest to northeast, starting at roughly 30° above the horizon and passing close to the point directly overhead. The overall heading seemed steady, but each light appeared to move in a disorderly way. The sequence lasted between five and ten minutes. The lights were first red and blinking, then turned white and steady, and gradually disappeared toward the northeast. The witnesses heard no noise. Near the end, they made three smartphone videos, which show blinking white dots, though the resolution is too low to make out any shape or structure.

Only one of the two witnesses completed a questionnaire. GEIPAN rated the case's consistency as medium and its residual strangeness as moderate: the number of lights, the silence and the change in lighting were unusual to the witnesses, but there was no abrupt manoeuvre or behaviour incompatible with known aerial objects. Aircraft and helicopters were ruled out (no noise, many lights, their spread, and lighting behaviour that did not fit), and the CAPCODA air map showed no track comparable to the trajectory. Astronomical and satellite explanations were also excluded. A group of drones was the preferred hypothesis, as it fits the number of lights, slow speed, silence, coordinated overall movement and change in lighting; the reconstructed trajectory and local surroundings do not contradict it. Drone operators active in the area were contacted and answered negatively. No radar data showed any unconventional object, but civilian radars are not suited to detecting small drones. For lack of objective data, GEIPAN classified the case C.
