Sighting in Fleix, September 15, 2009

Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on September 15, 2009 in Fleix (Vienne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness noticed a phenomenon in the sky at 4:26 a.m. that they could not explain. They told the gendarmerie they had seen a solid shape at the end of a cloud: a round object with three or four lit windows. Beneath it was a bar, topped by an oval-shaped light that moved sideways, from left to right.

The phenomenon was stationary and at low altitude. It remained visible for more than five minutes.

No one else came forward with a account of this sighting, and the gendarmerie investigation produced no further information. GEIPAN asked the witness for additional details, but the witness did not reply, which ruled out any detailed investigation. The case was classified C (insufficient data) because of the lack of information.
