Sighting in France, October 28, 1994

Sighting on October 28, 1994, exact location not given (France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

In the late afternoon, several witnesses in the Gard and Hérault departments noticed a luminous phenomenon hanging motionless in the sky. Some of them had a camera with a zoom lens, and through it they could see that the object had a distinctive shape made up of points of light. A dimmer light seemed to stand out at its centre.

The witnesses then watched the object split into two. The sighting ended when the luminous phenomenon vanished at very high speed.

No photographs were taken, and the investigation could not gather any further information. Because the data were insufficient, the GEIPAN classified the case as category C.
