Sighting in Longuenesse, September 8, 1990
Pas-de-Calais, Hauts-de-France, France
Sighting on September 8, 1990 in Longuenesse (Pas-de-Calais, France). After investigation, GEIPAN considers this phenomenon unexplained (class D).
What happened
Over several days, and for several hours each time starting at 21:30, oval shapes with red and green lights were seen in the sky. They moved slowly or stayed stationary. Several witnesses saw them, as did a Police Nationale patrol.
The investigation could not identify the phenomenon. It resembled the lasers of a nightclub in the Lille area, but this explanation could not be confirmed. If the hypothesis of aircraft passing through is wrong, the case may also be linked to the observation of 17 July. GEIPAN classified it D, unexplained.
