Sighting in Marseillan, July 23, 2012

Hérault, Occitanie, France

Sighting on July 23, 2012 in Marseillan (Hérault, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 10:45 p.m., two witnesses were on a beach when they saw, one after the other, several phenomena that puzzled them. They described three distinct phenomena, but only very briefly, and the observation lasted a very short time. No other testimony was collected, even though many people were still walking on the beach at that hour.

According to GEIPAN, the case is fairly strange but has rather low consistency. The two witnesses are not independent of each other, and the fact that nobody else came forward was considered surprising. The investigation found no similarity with the usual misidentifications. Because there was too little cross-checking and information, the case was classified C.
