What happened

Gendarmes on patrol noticed a luminous phenomenon in the sky in the early morning, at around 4:28 a.m. For about an hour and a half, a yellow ball of light stayed visible to the north-east. It moved slowly and its brightness varied. The sky was very clear, visibility was very good, and there was no Moon.

The investigation concluded that the gendarmes had observed the planet Venus, which was particularly easy to see at that time of year (magnitude given as 4.15). The case was classified A, meaning identified.
