What happened

At about 10:08 p.m., a witness saw an object with a red light pass by at high altitude and at great speed, travelling from west to east. The light grew fainter as the object moved away, and the landscape soon hid it from view.

GEIPAN contacted the witness several times to ask for further details but received no reply. With no gendarmerie report and no other information, no investigation could be carried out. The case was classified C because of insufficient data. GEIPAN's conclusion was that the witness had seen an object with a red light passing at high altitude.
