Sighting in Phalsbourg, March 7, 1978

Moselle, Grand Est, France

Sighting on March 7, 1978 in Phalsbourg (Moselle, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Two witnesses were on their terrace at around 7:15 p.m. when they noticed two red points of light, one above the other, in the direction of the south-southeast. The lights stayed visible for about two minutes and then went out all at once. A few seconds later, a point of similar size giving off a white glow appeared and moved very quickly toward the northeast. This second phase lasted about a minute.

Another witness gave a statement about a point of light moving across the sky, but the time they gave did not match that of the first sighting. No other testimony was collected about this phenomenon.

GEIPAN classified the case as C, meaning there was not enough data. The witnesses saw points of light high in the sky, and the information available does not allow a firmer conclusion.
