Sighting in Pleuneuf Val Andre, October 12, 1989

Côtes-d'Armor, Bretagne, France

Sighting on October 12, 1989 in Pleuneuf Val Andre (Côtes-d'Armor, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

At about 10:30 p.m., a couple looking through a roof window noticed a very bright point of light that lasted only a few moments. Another witness also saw the glow separately. The next day, the couple found grass and tree stumps that looked freshly scorched.

The investigation showed that the stumps had been partly burned on purpose, so they had nothing to do with the light. As for the glow itself, it was most likely the conjunction of Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus with the Moon, which could only be seen from one particular direction. The GEIPAN classified the case as B, a probably identified sighting of a bright point of light and then a luminous ball.
