Finistère, Bretagne, France

Sighting on February 5, 1984 in Plouguenast (Finistère, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

At around 5 a.m., in the middle of a pitch-dark night, several people noticed a rectangular object. It gave off an intense, light blue glow that lit up their surroundings so much that they could see as if in broad daylight. The object crossed the sky from north to south at very high speed, without making any noise.

The sighting lasted between 5 and 8 seconds. The phenomenon then disappeared at the horizon.

Based on the witnesses' descriptions, GEIPAN concluded that this was probably the observation of an atmospheric re-entry, and the case was classified B (probably identified).
