What happened

Between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m., several witnesses saw intense red lights moving over the ocean. The main witness described five separate periods of observation, during which they believed they were seeing the same light each time.

The main witness did not go to the local gendarmerie, and no other testimony about the phenomenon was collected. In a letter sent to the GEIPAN in June 2010, the main witness said that what they had seen was a Thai lantern. The case was classified A (identified): the red lights were moving randomly above the ocean.
