Sighting in Saou, June 15, 1999

Drôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

What happened

In June 1999, a glider pilot took landscape photographs. When looking at the slides afterwards, they noticed marks that they had not seen while taking the pictures. The pilot thought these might be UFOs.

According to the investigation, a report based on photographs with no matching visual sighting generally cannot be analysed. Such marks can come from reflections in the lens or from the film development process. GEIPAN concluded that the case involved marks on slides and classified it C, meaning there was insufficient data.
