What happened
The witness reported these events in 2010. They were a child at the time, sitting in the back seat of a car driving along a country road one evening in November 1994, after 8 p.m. Looking east over the treetops of a forest, they saw a very bright green light pass by, with a small point of light right next to it. The point of light accelerated sharply, suddenly changed course and vanished toward the north. No particular noise was heard during the sighting, and no other witness account was collected.
The investigation first considered a bolide, meaning either space debris re-entering the atmosphere or a meteoroid, since the green color and the speed fitted. The change of direction, however, remained very surprising. It could be explained by a second bolide or a shooting star that happened to appear just as the first one ended. GEIPAN had no factual evidence to confirm this far-fetched hypothesis. Given the type of phenomenon and the age of the case, a retrospective investigation would not have produced anything new. The case was classified C: the data were insufficient to give a solid opinion.
