Sighting in Fos-sur-Mer, October 21, 1993

Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sighting on October 21, 1993 in Fos-sur-Mer (Bouches-du-Rhône, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 9 p.m., a security guard monitoring a company's screens saw a halo of light appear on the surveillance camera, together with a very bright half-sphere. Over a few minutes, the phenomenon moved slowly across the camera's field of view, then vanished behind some trees. The witness saw it only through the camera.

The investigation could not settle the matter. Car headlights could account for what the guard saw, but no evidence was gathered to support that idea. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C, meaning there was insufficient data.
