Sighting in Jeantes, November 15, 2009

Aisne, Hauts-de-France, France

Sighting on November 15, 2009 in Jeantes (Aisne, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a light from the ground (searchlight, laser, vehicle…) (class B).

What happened

Over the nights of 14 and 15 November 2009, several witnesses saw a blue light moving across the sky on separate occasions. The first sighting, on 14 November, was covered by the media, and other people then came forward reporting the same kind of phenomenon from communes further north, at Buironfosse (Aisne) and Beaurieux (Nord).

The witnesses described a rounded blue light that moved slowly from right to left. They did not agree, however, on how far away it was or where it came from.

A third sighting, on 21 November, was identified by the gendarmes as a searchlight from one of the discotheques in the region. GEIPAN considered this a workable hypothesis and the probable explanation for the sightings of 14 and 15 November 2009. The case was classified B, probably identified.
