Sighting in Marseille, January 11, 2009

Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sighting on January 11, 2009 in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was a reflection or photographic artefact (class A).

What happened

The witness wanted to send their granddaughter a photograph of Marseille under snow. The picture was taken on 11 January 2009, between 4 and 5 p.m. Looking at it afterwards, the witness noticed a bright circular object that they had not seen while taking the shot.

The GEIPAN investigation established that it was not an object in the sky: the bright shape was the reflection of the kitchen neon light on the photograph. The case was classified A, meaning identified.
